Intervention
SAIFF provides ongoing intervention to children and families where there has been sexual harm.
It is often thought that treatment involves talking only (or predominantly) about the sexual harm. Whilst helping children acknowledge, accept responsibility for, and understand their harmful behaviour is an important component, it is equally essential that we build on children’s strengths and resources to be able to meet their needs in healthy ways and have lives that are happy and safe.
SAIFF understands that children require the support and care of adults in their lives to be able to change and grow, and so parents, carers and other supports play an essential role in the therapy process.
We work collaboratively with the Department of Communities and Justice, the Joint Child Protection Response Team, and Health services to ensure that children and families have access to the necessary supports, services and interventions.
SAIFF offers both Centre based treatment services (at our Sydney office) and Outreach Services for families where it is not possible or practical that they attend our consultation rooms.
If you would like to discuss our treatment services or make a referral, please contact SAIFF.
